Swansea East MS encourages constituents to shop local this Christmas and all year round
Local Member of the Senedd, Mike Hedges, is encouraging people across Swansea East to shop local this Small Business Saturday, and in the run up to Christmas.
Saturday the 3 December marks this year’s Small Business Saturday. The campaign aims to make a positive lasting impact on small businesses, which are more important than ever this year.
Member of the Senedd for Swansea East, Mike Hedges MS, said:
“I am delighted to once again support Small Business Saturday on what is their tenth anniversary. Small businesses do so much in our community, providing jobs and driving economic growth.
“It’s more important than ever that we shop locally and support those businesses who are facing unprecedented pressures like soaring energy costs.
“Shopping local creates more jobs for the local community, is better for the environment and helps to make sure that our local shops continue to be the backbone of our high streets. It just makes sense.”
The Welsh Labour Government has provided grant funding to enable local authorities in Wales to provide a Retail, Leisure, and Hospitality Rates Relief scheme to eligible businesses for 2022-23. The scheme provides support for eligible occupied properties by offering a discount of 50% on non-domestic rates bills for such properties.
