Swansea East Assembly Member Mike Hedges has today welcomed the news that two Swansea based community groups are to benefit from a combined funding total of £6,286, thanks to the latest round of funding from the Big Lottery Fund’s “Awards for All” programme.
The two Swansea based groups that will benefit from the funding are the 20th Swansea 1st Morriston Scout Group, which will receive £4,911, and the Morriston SOPWA Group, which will receive £1,375.
Under the Big Lottery’s “Award’s for All” small grants programme, a total of 108 community based groups and projects throughout Wales will benefit from the latest round of funding, totalling £408,481.
Speaking on the news, Swansea AM Mike Hedges said:
“The Big Lottery Fund’s Awards for All programme is already having a positive impact in communities through the Swansea area, thanks to previous grants. The funding has helped to support local projects, establish new community groups, provide access to learning and volunteering opportunities, as well as helped strengthen communities by bringing people together.
“I would like to congratulate the 20th Swansea 1st Morriston Scout Group and the Morriston SOPWA Group on their successful funding applications, and look forward to seeing the funding put into good use to support community activity.”
