New £1.5m community grant scheme launched

A new Community Initiative Grant fund of £1.5m to support housing and regeneration in Wales over the next three years has been announced today by Welsh Labour’s Minister for Housing, Regeneration and Heritage, Huw Lewis.

The revenue fund will support the delivery of community benefits through housing and regeneration capital investment; innovation, particularly in relation to the development of new housing models and funding options; the exchange of ideas, experiences and lessons that contribute to the successful delivery; and the strengthening of the housing and regeneration sectors to through training and development.

The fund will complement the Welsh Labour Government’s vision for regeneration, as set out in the new regeneration framework Vibrant and Viable Places and will offer financial support through a competitive bidding process for applications that will deliver the agenda set out in the framework.
