Speaking on the Welsh Government’s decision to purchase Cardiff Airport, Swansea East AM Mike Hedges said:
“I’m very pleased with today’s news from the First Minister over the Welsh Government’s decision to buy back Cardiff Airport after being in private ownership for the past 18 years.
“As Wales’ main international gateway, it’s essential that Cardiff airport is run as a successful business in order to increase tourism, promote Wales aboard, and help with the economic development of South and West Wales.
“I strongly believe the decision to force through the selling of the airport back in 1995 by the Conservative Government was a mistake and hope that returning the airport to public ownership will give Wales’ only international airport a much needed boost.”
