MIKE HEDGES WELCOMES NEW £22M OF FUNDING FOR ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT ORGANISATIONS IN WALES
The Minister for Natural Resources, Carl Sargeant, has today announced the organisations who will share £21.875m of Welsh Government core funding from the Environment and Sustainable Development Directorate to support their work.
Mike said ‘ I welcome this news that confirms the Welsh Government’s commitment to improving the natural environment and working with the Voluntary Sector to achieve this. I regularly see the work done by organisations such as Keep Wales Tidy in Communities First areas and see the benefits experienced by these communities. This money will also enable Wales to continue to develop its reputation as being one of the leaders in Europe when it comes to recycling domestic rubbish.’
The competitive grant process has seen 16 organisations successful, with the majority getting the full amount bid for. The funding has been awarded to these organisations for a period of two and a half years, allowing them to plan more effectively than with an annual allocation.
