Mike Hedges Urges parents – Apply now for funding to help with costs of school Uniform and sports kit
Parents across Swansea East could be entitled to £125 to help cover the cost of school uniforms, sports kit and kit for sports and activities outside of school such as scouts and guides.
Mike Hedges AM said… ‘I am well aware of how costly it can be to kit children out for the new school year, especially if you have several siblings in different schools. If parents or carers are in receipt of one of the passport benefits or if their children receive free school meals, I urge them to see if they are eligible for this new support. No one should feel embarrassed in seeking advice. This money is there to support your children – please make use of it!’
The new fund, PDG Access, is targeted at learners who are eligible for free school meals or children who are looked after and are going into reception class or Year 7 in September and aged 4 or 11 in special schools, Special Educational Needs (SEN) Units or Pupil Referral Units.
The fund will also cover funding for equipment for out of school hours trips, including outdoor learning, and equipment for activities within the curriculum, such as design and technology.
