MIKE HEDGES MS WELCOMES NEWS THAT APPLICATIONS FOR MEDICAL AND NURSING COURSES HAVE RISEN THIS YEAR.

Speaking from his Morriston Office, local MS Mike Hedges said… ‘it is good to get more applications for Health courses in Welsh Universities, but it is thanks the extra funding provided by the Welsh Labour Government that the courses are able to accept more students. The extra £220 million announced in December 2020 will go a long way to ensuring that the NHS in Wales has a new generation of highly qualified professionals to take it through the next 2-3 decades.

Welsh universities have seen a record number of applications to study nursing and medicine this year.

Health Education and Improvement Wales and the Welsh government announced in December 2020 more than £227m to expand health professional training.

Applications to study postgraduate medicine and child nursing at Swansea University have risen by 28%.
