Mike Hedges MS supports launch of free anti-racist training for Early Years practitioners.
Local Swansea East MS, Mike Hedges has welcomed the launch of new diversity and anti-racist learning and resources for practitioners working with babies and young children, providing childcare and nursery education.
This work is part of the Welsh Labour Government’s ongoing commitments to create an Anti-Racist Wales by 2030. It follows the success of resources launched in 2022 for people working in education.
The training and resources are funded by the Welsh Government, through investment in the Diversity and Anti-Racism Professional Learning (DARPL) Project, with the support of Childcare Wales Learning and Working Mutually (CWLWM).
Welcoming the announcement Mike Hedges said:
We know the crucial role that those working in childcare, playwork and early years have in children’s development and growth, and how important it is that they have the tools to understand and reflect all of the communities our children live in.
We want these settings to offer inclusive, accepting and fun environments that all children can feel welcome in.
The Welsh Labour Government’s vision is of an anti-racist Wales by 2030 and this is one way of helping to sew early seeds with our youngest learners.
