Hyper local publishers given financial boost
Local Assembly Member Mike Hedges, has welcomed the news that independent community publishers, also known as hyper-local publishers, have today been provided with a £200,000 boost, with the announcement of additional Welsh Government funding to support the sector.
The fund will look to support publications that are independent of political, commercial, and religious interests; are community-focused and produce contemporary news content and will be made available to eligible Welsh based print and online publications who have been actively publishing for six months or more in Wales.
Mike Hedges AM Said “We have some amazing hyper local publications in Swansea including radio stations such as Radio Tircoed. The contribution that Radio Tircoed makes is invaluable to residents in Swansea
“This money is about supporting local journalists who are seeking to set up a hyper local. I would love to hear from them about their plans”
“These are important services which deserve our recognition and support and I’m delighted with this announcement”
