Education initiatives, play facilities and child care projects in the most disadvantaged communities in Wales are set to benefit from thousands of pounds of funding through a new £3 million fund which is being established by the Welsh Labour Government.
The Tackling Poverty Small Grants Fund will also go towards events to promote healthy living and training for people to find jobs.
The money will be used in Communities First clusters that cover the top 10 per cent most deprived areas in Wales. The 52 Communities First Clusters across Wales will initially receive £50,000 for the next two financial years to support their work and will be able to apply for further funding from the remaining £400,000.
Communities First is the Welsh Government’s flagship programme to help the poorest people in the country and works to improve health, prosperity and access to education and learning.
