£60 million boost for Swansea University

Swansea East AM Mike Hedges has joined with the First Minister, Carwyn Jones, in welcoming the news that Swansea University has secured £60 million funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB) towards its ambitious campus development programme.

The First Minister also announced that a further £15 million from the European Regional Development Fund is to be made available and confirmed that the Welsh Government is also providing £15 million for the project. The amount of funding announced now totals £90 million.

The expansion, which will include the construction of a new Science and Innovation Campus, in addition to the regeneration of the University’s Singleton Park Campus, will create world-leading research, innovation and education facilities in Swansea. The new Science and Innovation Campus will co-locate the University’s College of Engineering and School of Business and Economics with a range of multinational, national and local businesses.
