Swansea students celebrating their success in Welsh Baccalaureate, A-Level and AS-Level examinations have today been praised by Swansea East AM and former FE lecturer, Mike Hedges AM.
The A-Level and AS-Level results published today show that for students in Wales:
• 97.6% of A level entries resulted in a pass;
• 75% of A level entries resulted in a pass at grade C or above;
• 86.4% of AS entries resulted in a pass.
In addition, 8,259 Welsh students have achieved the Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma this year, which is an increase of 1,311 (18.8%) compared to last year.
Speaking on the announcement, Mike Hedges AM said:
“Students across Swansea can be really proud of themselves today. This is the culmination of two years of hard work for all involved and they deserve this success. “I’d also like to pay tribute to all teachers, parents and governors for their hard work in helping our learners reach their potential with another set of great exam results.
“While the competition for university places, work placements and jobs is tough, there is help available to students through Student Finance Wales and Careers Wales; I would encourage anyone unsure about what to do next to get in touch for some further advice and support.”
