MIKE HEDGES AM WELCOMES THE DECISION BY SWANSEA PLANNING COMMITTEE TO REJECT THE INCINERATOR APPLICATION FOR CLARION CLOSE, LLANSAMLET.
Speaking after the conclusion of the planning committee meeting, Mike Hedges AM said… this is good news for the Communities on the Eastside of my constituency who would have been affected by this facility. I am pleased for the people in the local community and the local Labour councillors who worked together to run a community based campaign in opposition to this application. They are an example to any community which has to fight an incinerator application. I made representations to the Welsh Government asking for this application to be decided by Ministers but the outcome was the right one for my Constituents.
Swansea Council were deciding on a planning application by BIFFA to locate a waste to energy facility at Clarion Close Llansamlet. A local community campaign submitted over 2500 objections to the application.
