Mike Hedges welcomes Welsh Government INITIATIVE WHERE people are urged to Make a Stand against Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence
The Welsh Labour Government has launched a new campaign asking people to make a stand against violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence.
Mike said… ‘I welcome this news as I have met many women who have been subject to abuse and sexual violence; it is something we must all play a part in standing up to. I urge women ( and men) who are experiencing abuse and sexual violence to make use of the support facilities mentioned below’
Supporters are being urged to post photographs of themselves on social media linking arms to demonstrate their support for the campaign, using the hashtag #makingastand. The photographs will complement the advertising campaign, which commences today on public transport, and posters and billboards around Welsh railway stations which shows groups of figures linking arms.
It will also raise awareness of the support services available to people experiencing domestic abuse, violence against women and sexual violence via the Live Fear Free website and 24 hour confidential helpline.
People who know someone suffering from domestic abuse, or who are a victim themselves, are urged to call the free, 24-hour confidential helpline now on 0808 80 10 800 or visit www.gov.wales/livefearfree for further information.
