MIKE HEDGES URGES PEOPLE TO VOTE WITH TWO WEEKS LEFT TO VOTE FOR HIGH STREET HERO
Welsh Labour’s Communities Minister, Lesley Griffiths, is encouraging people to nominate those who make the biggest contribution to their vibrant local high streets for a prestigious new national award before voting closes on 10 August.
Mike Hedges said… I urge people to take part in this opportunity to promote local high street business in Swansea East. I am aware that there are many small shops and business operating in the communities of Swansea East. I hope that people will take this opportunity to promote these shops on a big stage. People can also nominate individuals who contribute to high street life; so if you want to offer some support to your local high street – get voting!”
The High Street Heroes awards are part of the Support Your High Street campaign, which showcases the vast range of shops and services available on Wales’ diverse high streets and town centres.
Businesses and services can be nominated in one or more of six categories: food & drink; fashion, health & beauty; leisure, home & garden; professional & financial services; community service provider and eating out on the high street.
People are also encouraged to nominate their overall High Street Hero – an individual deserving recognition for their outstanding contribution to their local high street and community.
Voting for the High Street Heroes awards is online via the Support Your High Street Facebook page and entries close on 10 August 2015.
