News that around 5,000 Welsh homes benefitted from free home energy improvements last year to help keep down household bills has been warmly welcomed today by local AM Mike Hedges.
The figures, which were published today under the NEST Annual Report 2013-14, shows that on average, the energy efficiency improvements made under the scheme have helped Welsh households to save around £475 per home in energy costs.
The Nest Annual Report also reveals that in the last financial year, over 20,600 householders benefitted from free energy saving advice and support as a result of the Welsh Government funded fuel poverty scheme. This means that since its launch in April 2011, NEST has helped over 56,000 Welsh householders with advice, guidance or practical installations to keep energy costs down.
Speaking on the NEST Annual Report, Labour AM for Swansea East Mike Hedges said:
“These figures show that NEST has made a real difference to thousands of households throughout Swansea and Wales by providing them with free energy efficiency improvements and advice to help tackle those high energy bills. In addition to that, NEST has also helped to support local jobs and businesses, which in turn is good news for our green economy.”
