Six local authorities that were among the worst hit by the recent storms and flooding are to share a new £1.6million fund from the Welsh Labour Government.
The fund is designed to help repair damaged infrastructure to ensure that Wales’ £5billion tourism industry can open for business as usual by Easter.
The £1.6m fund is being allocated for projects in Swansea (£80,000), Ceredigion (£560,000), Gwynedd (£400,000), Pembrokeshire (£400,000), Anglesey (£80,000) and Monmouth County Council (£80,000) areas. This funding follows the additional £2million announced last week by the Minister for Natural Resources Alun Davies to fund emergency repairs to flood defences that were damaged in the recent storms.
The funding is also anticipated to support tourism related infrastructure projects within local authorities and to promote the message that Wales is “open for business”.
