Mike encourages adults to “try something new” as part of Adult Learners’ Week 2013

“It’s never too late to try something new”, is the message that is today being given by Swansea East AM Mike Hedges as Adult Learners’ Week 2013 takes place throughout Wales.  

Adult Learners’ Week is the UK’s largest annual festival of learning, which aims to inspire people to discover how re-entering education can change their lives. During the week, over 800 events and taster sessions will be taking place across Wales, with an estimated 20,000 young people and adults taking up the chance to see what different learning opportunities are available in their local communities.

Earlier today, the Swansea AM visited the Blaenymaes ARC Centre to meet with adult learners and local residents to discuss the benefits of re-entering education and to see what learning opportunities were available in the community. 

Speaking from the Blaenymaes ARC Centre, Mike Hedges AM said:

“It’s important to remember that education doesn’t have to stop at the ages of sixteen, eighteen or twenty-one, and that there are local opportunities available to help people re-enter the world of learning right on their doorstep.  

“Adult Learner’s Week gives people the perfect opportunity to explore the different kinds of learning that is available to them; whether it be to get a better job, develop a new skill, to help their children with homework, or just to try something different. The message is that it’s never too late to re-enter education.

“For anyone interested in getting back into education or learning a new skill, I would encourage them to contact Gower College Swansea to see what courses and leaning opportunities are available to them locally.”
